Can you guess

Postby DiamondMox » Tue Feb 06, 2007 8:27 pm

I have a pair of pics posted of Capitol HS and was wondering if you guys could guess which is from a real plane and which is from r/c. It's not hard...I left a clue.

I am guessing the second one is from RC. Very nice pictures but I am thinking that you are flying from the school and therefore the picture was taken facing North to capture CH school. The other picture you would be below the bench and have to gain even more altitude and I do not think you can fly from the fair Grounds. Could be wrong. At any rate excellent pictures Mark.

Well, there's no restriction on where one can fly electric. I hear that before the city banned gassers, the Fairgrounds was even a popular place to fly to boot. I actually posted them to show the height difference between them.

yeah, I was going to say the altitude seems higher in the first picture. Look at the angle of the buildings rising up and the amount of skyline.

That is still way up there though!

brown grass is your pic because its this time of the year. I guess I could look at the EXIF data from the pics but wont go that far.

I have been trying to figure out what clue you left in the photos. I was thinking maybe it could be your truck.. but I cant make out any details on the vehicles.
I think I found a clue: top right corner of the top pic. Is that a wing strut or something? But it doesn't make it obvious as to what size airplane it was taken from.

I took both pics...with the same camera even. The first pic is the one I took a few days ago and it is the one from my ride with Rob. The clue is the little bit of wing strut I left in the corner when I cropped the photo.

I saw that plane part too in the corner but like mentioned, you could not tell what scale it was. So the first picture, where did you fly from? I am assuming the second is from the school. I looked for a long time and tried an educated guess but I was 50 % right! :D

At any rate you do produce some very awesome pictures/video's.

Forgot to ask, have you used any altimeter devices to define what altitude you are at? I would love to know just how high you get your planes.

The clue show be a dead give away if you think about how the camera is on my plane. It would be very hard work to get any piece of my Moxstick in the pic since the camera is hanging out by it's lonesome so far in front.

"So the first picture, where did you fly from? "
Since it was from a full scale plane, I kinda had to fly from the airport. :D

I have not yet put an altimiter on my plane since I can't afford one. If anyone has a GPS unit I could use, it could give me a good enough estimate to go off of.

if you put it that way, its obvious. But I haven't seen your Moxstick for quite a while  so I wasn't sure if you had maybe changed your mounting. I really need to get out flying... maybe this weekend...
